The RF-1500's iconic left and right upper air intakes are now centrally located to improve ventilation. Rib shapes are incorporated into the shell, flowing from the sides of the upper air intakes, where the SHOEI logo is integrated, towards the rear of the helmet, resulting in a simple yet distinctive design.
The cut lines on both sides of the shell, adopted from the RF-1400, are expressed through the rib shape of the shell that connects from the chin bar to the back of the head and the design of the bottom beading. By eliminating the cut lines, the compactness of the shell is maintained while ensuring the strength of the chin bar.
In addition, it adopts lower air intakes on both sides, and the tip of the chin bar is flattened to match these lower air intakes, resulting in a unique shell design.
Compared to previous models, the RF-1500 reduces lift (the upward tendency of the helmet to lift) by approximately 13% and drag (the downward pressure from the front) by approximately 3%. (These are reference figures from our large-scale wind tunnel testing facility.)
Upper air intake The air intake holes are located in four places, similar to the previous RF-1400 model. After verifying the optimal position for efficiently drawing in airflow, they were placed towards the center of the shell and integrated into a single part. Compared to the combined airflow from the front and upper air intakes of the previous model, the airflow from the RF-1500's upper air intake has improved by approximately 1.9 times*.
Shield System Like the previous RF-1400 model, it uses the CWR-F2 shield. The shield lock button has been enlarged, making it easier to find and operate even when wearing thick gloves.
The shield base is equipped with a slightly open shield position, which allows you to ventilate the inside of the helmet by riding at low speeds in this slightly open position when the shield fogs up. In addition, a shield adjustment lever is located at the bottom of the shield base, so if a gap develops between the shield and the window rubber during use, you can easily make fine adjustments to the shield by lowering the lever.
